Alumnus Melvin van Weert receives a 'Gelderland valorises' voucher

The voucher of € 2,500 is available to ArtEZ students and alumni up to three years after graduation for making the first investment for your new and innovative company. Melvin was looking for financing his company The Song Architects. After several coaching sessions at the ArtEZ Business Centre, he can now create an identity and website to reach his participants and the public.
Melvin followed a matched curriculum at the conservatory of Enschede. His study was a crossover between the Pop Academy and Media Music, with songwriting, guitar, and audio engineering/music production as his main subjects. As a music producer, he is involved in the music production behind a song, and he is a songwriter of mainly Dutch pop music. As a guitarist, he writes and records for artists and producers.
Together with two other participants, Melvin followed a pitch training at the HAN location Arnhem, preparing the starter voucher application. He received guidance, explanation, and feedback about how a pitch should make the most significant possible impact. He dived into it without experience, and the meeting gave him all the insights he needed to perform a good pitch.
With his company, The Song Architects he has developed a songwriting method. In a 12-week classroom training, you built a base in developing and mastering the elements of songwriting. Every week a topic is discussed, of which the input is immediately applied in a class assignment.
The Song Architects consists of professional music producers, songwriters, audio engineers, a graphic designer and an analog photographer. During 12 weeks, participants work in groups of two on songs, in which they are limited to musical and lyrical possibilities to apply the expertise from the training. The artists don't need to search themselvers and can focus on their music, relying on the quality and professionalism of the team.
