Graphic Design alumni design mural at Spoorhoek in Arnhem

Starting today, you can see even more art and colour in Arnhem. Graphic Design alumni, Esmée Dros and Benjamin McMillan, created an impressive mural at Spoorhoek. Their work is the second in a series of artworks aimed at making the city center more attractive.
The emerging designers had the opportunity to gain experience in working in public spaces. Such opportunities are not always available, which makes this project special. Besides the different approach required for working in public spaces, there are often more aspects to consider than expected: coordination with property owners, collaboration with different parties, making structural calculations, finding suitable locations, and navigating the permitting process. A valuable experience indeed!
Esmee and Benjamin were guided by both the municipality and ArtEZ through the Vormforensen (also ArtEZ alumni), following conversations the municipality had with ArtEZ Business Centre. Signpainters executed the mural.
About Esmée Dros
Esmée (She/her) is a (graphic) designer trying to define a practice that is interested in creating space, both physically and by supporting the development of specific social dynamics. About Benjamin McMillan
Benjamin McMillan graduated from the bachelor's course Graphic Design in Arnhem. He is a graphic/type designer based in Amsterdam, hosting as well as running Full Auto Foundry and releasing a scruffy typeface from time to time.
