SPOTTED: Creative Writing alumnus Marieke Polderdijk wins Gelderland cultural award

The Gelderse Bokaal – which is awarded once every two years to an individual who has made a special contribution to the culture or nature of Gelderland – goes to Marieke Polderdijk, alumnus of Creative Writing! According to De Gelderlander, the jury liked Marieke's interdisciplinary approach.

Award

Marieke Polderdijk was presented with the award on Friday in Focus Filmtheater by Henri Lenferink, King's Commissioner and chair of the Gelderland Culture Fund. The award consists of a sum of €5,000 and a specially designed trophy.

Design by Product Design alumnus

This year, the trophy was designed by Product Design alumnus Fleuri La Belle Ngapy. The trophy reflects Marieke Polderdijk's work.

Jury

The jury consisted of two members of the Gelderland Culture Fund board, Patrick van Gurp and Thomas van der Ham, and two external jury members from the creative writing sector: Kim van Kaam, head of talent development at Wintertuin, and Mahat Arab, producer at Poetry Circle Nowhere and editor-in-chief of Mensen Zeggen Dingen.

In her work, Marieke reveals a range of possibilities within the meaning of text, spoken word, performance and poetry. Marieke's makership is characterised by a diversity of forms, disciplines and locations."
