ArtEZ Academy of Music in Arnhem

Are you an original performer, an ‘edgy’ musician or maker? If so, come and professionalise your talent at the ArtEZ Academy of Music in Arnhem in a multi-disciplinary, meta-disciplinary and interdisciplinary environment. You'll learn to take a (more) critical look at yourself and your environment, so that you can make your contribution through the role that music plays in society.

Authentic performers

The Jazz & Pop and Music Theatre bachelor’s courses at the ArtEZ Academy of Music, Arnhem train independently-minded musicians, performers, makers and educators who are constantly questioning and pushing back the boundaries of their own autonomous artistry. We train students who interpret artistic entrepreneurship in innovative ways, for whom collaborating with other disciplines goes without saying, who think and work in terms of music, and who feel connected with the world, both close to home and far away.

Developing an entrepreneurial attitude

At the academy of music in Arnhem, there is a strong focus on developing your entrepreneurial attitude. You will learn to proactively identify and take opportunities, in both commercial and artistic terms. This way, you will create visibility for your future musical career.

Creating, experimenting and making together

Being surrounded by other arts disciplines at the ArtEZ Academy of Music, you'll naturally learn to create, experiment and make together. Examples of the projects our students work on are:

Pleasure Island

This is the annual interdisciplinary project week in which you work with students from the other academies, ArtEZ Academy of Art & Design Arnhem and ArtEZ Academy of Theatre & Dance.

ChoCo-project

In this project, composers from our conservatories in Arnhem and Zwolle work on multiple assignments with dance students, with live supervision from musicians from De Ereprijs orchestra. The dancers taking part are second and third-year students, which means they can also take on the role of production assistants in this co-production.
